HONING
Honing is a finishing process that allows the internal cylindrical
surfaces to be formed to precise dimensions and permits fine finishes. Because
stock removal is typically in the 0.001” range or less, the stress and heat
levels caused are minimal, virtually eliminating distortion and improving the
bore geometry.
We understand the importance of quality and precision in the honing industry. The Upchurch method maintains a higher degree of centerline accuracy than conventional honing as well as continuing to supply metallurgical integrity, roundness and finish to the working surface.
